Our Director of Music Emeritus, Dr. Alan Mason, or “Alan” as he’s known around here, is the most affable, unassuming, internationally-renowned pianist you’ll find anywhere. A noted vocal and choral accompanist to concertizing cantors and choirs, and has played for Jewish music concerts across the United States, Europe and Israel. He is president of the Guild of Temple Musicians, is the founding director of HaZamir Miami a chapter of HaZamir: The International Jewish High School Choir. Alan has a profound and unalterable dislike for cheese. He has never tasted pizza, lasagna, veal parmigiana, macaroni and cheese, baked ziti, grilled cheese, or quiche, and can say “no cheese, please” in many languages. Ask Alan about anything musical, how Spain is in Summer, and how to pass time on long flights.
