About Karen Pincus: As a prayer leader serving South Florida for the past nine years, Cantorial Soloist Karen Pincus has led religious services for Temple Beth Am, Temple Israel, Temple Bat Yam, UF Hillel, and the Key’s JCC. A member of the Guild of Temple Musicians since 2009, Karen is a Refuat Ha-Nefesh fellow of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and fulfills the mitzvah of bikur cholim by leading a monthly healing service at the new Miami Cancer Institute at Baptist Hospital in Kendall.
You can hear Karen singing on the Temple Beth Am Jewish Jewels CD, The Misheberach Song for Mishkan Miami which she recorded for the Greater Miami Jewish Federation in 2013, on her CD, Karen Rae, At Last, and on two of Jewish singer/songwriter Susan Linder’s CDs, Singin’ With Susan, Too! and Shabbat Singing’ With Susan, among others. After working in the field of accounting for most of her professional life, Karen made the bold decision to follow her heart and return to school in 2014 and graduated in December 2016 with a Religious Studies BA, Certificate of Judaic Studies, and a Certificate in the Study of Spirituality from Florida International University.
Karen often visited Temple Israel’s vibrant spiritual community as a guest Cantorial Soloist in the lovely Bertha Abess Sanctuary, and actually began her cantorial soloist career here in 2008. Now, as our Cantorial Soloist/Educator, she honors the Temple Israel kahal through sacred song and prayer on an ongoing basis.
